Tear off

A tear off is generally defined as removing the entire existing roof system down to the wood deck and installing a new roof system. This process has advantages over a re-roof. Your home’s value will increase, and we’ll be able to visually inspect some of the most important parts of your roof. We will also be able replace ice and water shields, new underlayment, roof to wall flashings and skylight flashings. While a tear off is more expensive than a re-roof, you’ll get a better quality roof that lasts longer by choosing a tear off.

Re-roof

A re-roof or also know as a Re-cover is generally defined as installing shingles over shingles. Whether or not you qualify for a re-roof depends on how many layers of shingles your roof already has, as well as, the current condition of your existing roof. While a re-roof is less expensive because of less labor, less materials and less debris, it eliminates options and there is no visual inspection. We won’t be able to inspect the most important parts of the roof, and we won’t be able to apply shields or flashings.
